About RWT Consulting
Following a two year service in the US Army and six years in the National guard, Rob Townsend entered the workforce as an NDT Inspector. He quickly gained certifications in RT, MT, PT, VT & UT as a Level II technician, performing inspections in manufacturing and fabrication plants, refineries, chemical plants, steel mills, pipelines, compressor stations, power plants, and navy ships in North and South America.
Following six years of field inspection, Rob settled into a Senior Level II Inspector in an ASME Fabrication Plant with a concentration in steel and reactive metals which included titanium, zirconium, tantalum, nickel alloys, duplex stainless steel, super duplex stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and steel. Within a year, Rob was asked to take the position of QC Manager and shortly thereafter as the Quality Assurance Manager. He then obtained his AWS, CWI, & CRI Certifications, and he played a key role in the quality and welding programs.
This facility relocated to California from Ohio; however, Rob sought out other opportunities and landed in a unique opportunity to assist a local manufacturer to enter into an identical business from the ground up. This new company would perform the same specialty as his previous employer. Rob had the opportunity to create and write an entire QC System to satisfy ASME for this new company seeking its certification as an ASME U, U2, and NBIC Repair Facility. Rob maintained the top Quality engineer for two years until he was assigned the Operations Manager of this facility.
However, Rob wanted to use his expertise to advance his career in the manufacturing/fabrication arena. He played roles in quality, inside and outside sales, purchasing, project management, plant management, Human Resources, estimating, accounting, marketing, and engineering. Rob was then promoted to General Manager of a large manufacturer for nine years and was then asked to sit on the board as a Director.
Rob's career had then led him to starting his own consultation business assisting new and existing companies in a multitude of arenas. He provided these services throughout Europe, The Middle East, Asia, and North & South America.
He then settled back in the NDT arena and pursued more certifications in obtaining Level III's in RT, MT, PT, UT, & VT. Rob's background in all codes and an in-depth understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, quality, and their systems has allowed him to offer an array of consultation. With over thirty years of experience in this field, Rob has the knowledge and experience that other consultants cannot provide.
